Stomach Virus Poleris

2010

Quite late 2010 began this academic year, so this is the official welcome I give to my colleagues in this new year that is sure is full of surprises and especially much work. This was already clear from our class on Monday 12, where we were given our first task, levers and pulleys.

"Give me a fulcrum and I will move the world."

A pulley is a simple machine used to transmit a force. This is a wheel, usually solid and grooved on its border, that in the course of a rope or cable that passes through the channel ("throat"), is used as the transmission element to change the direction of motion in machines and mechanisms. In addition, joint-forming equipment or hoists, serves to reduce the magnitude of the force required to move a weight.

As defined by the Goupillières Haton, "the pulley is the fulcrum of a moving rope is wound on her without a full turn [1] acting on one end the other the strength and power.

The lever is a simple machine whose function is to transmit a force. It consists of a rigid bar which can rotate freely around a support called a fulcrum.

can be used to amplify the mechanical force applied to an object, to increase its speed or distance traveled in response to the application of a force.

Forces acting on the rigid bar is a lever that three forces acting:

* The power is the force that we apply voluntarily to get a result, either manually or by means of motors or other mechanisms.
* Resistance is the force that we win, exerted on the lever by the body to move. Its value is equivalent to the principle of action and reaction force transmitted by the lever to the body.
* The strength of support: it is exerted by the fulcrum of the lever. If it does not consider the weight of the bar is always equal and opposite to the sum of the above, so as to maintain the lever without moving the fulcrum on which rotates freely.
