What is the Day of Judgement?

How you imagine the Day of Judgement? Many believe that billions of souls will be presented one at a time before the throne of God to be judged. They also think that some will be rewarded with a happy life in heaven, while others are doomed to suffer eternal torment. However, the Bible indicates that the Day of Judgement will be very different: there will be a time of terror, but of hope and restoration.

In Revelation (or Apocalypse) 20:11, 12, the apostle John describes the Day of Judgement: "I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From before he fled the earth and sky, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and scrolls were opened. But another scroll was opened, it is the scroll of life. And the dead were judged according to the things written in the scrolls according to their deeds. " Who is the judge sitting on that throne?
Jehovah God is the Supreme Judge of mankind. However, it has left the task of judging in the hands of another person. According to Acts 17:31, the apostle Paul said that God "has fixed a day on which it intends to judge the inhabited earth in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed." And that judge is the risen Christ (John 5:22). But when will the Day of Judgement and how long?
The book of Revelation indicates that the Day of Judgement will begin after the war of Armageddon, which will end the world of Satan (Revelation 16:14, 16; 19:19-20:3). After Armageddon will be enclosed to Satan and his demons in a ravine, where they will stay a thousand years. During that time, the 144,000 heavenly heirs judge people and "rule [an] with Christ a thousand years" (Revelation 14:1-3, 20:1-4, Romans 8:17). As we see, the Day of Judgement will not be a hasty activity period lasts only twenty four hours, but spread across a millennium.

During those thousand years, Jesus Christ will have to "judge the living and the dead" (2 Timothy 4:1). The phrase "living" refers to people who make up the "great crowd ", which will survive the war of Armageddon (Revelation 7:9-17). The apostle John also saw "the dead [...] standing before the throne" of trial. As Jesus promised, "those in the memorial tombs will hear [the] voice [of Christ] and come out" to be resurrected (John 5:28, 29; Acts 24:15). Now, what is taken into account in judging all these people?

In his vision the apostle John "will be opened rolls" and "the dead were judged according to the things written in the scrolls as his works. " Does it contain these rolls a record of works done in the past people? No. The trial did not focus on what they did before dying. How do we know? Because the Bible says that "he who has died has been acquitted of his sin" (Romans 6:7). In the case of those who rise, will clean slate, so to speak. Therefore, these rolls must provide new instructions from God. To live forever, both raised as survivors of Armageddon will have to obey the commandments of God. These are all commands that the Lord choose to disclose during the thousand years. Thus, everyone will be judged by what you do on the Day of Judgement.

On the Day of Judgement, billions of people will have first opportunity to learn what the will of God and then do it. To do this, carry out an educational work on a large scale. Indeed, "justice is what the people of productive land certainly learn [ANC]" (Isaiah 26:9). However, not everyone is willing to do the will of God. Isaiah 26:10 says: "While the wicked is shown favor, just do not learn righteousness. In the land of straight [or righteousness] act unjustly, and will not see the eminence of the Lord. " The evil people will be destroyed forever during the Day of Judgement (Isaiah 65:20).

After completing the Day of Judgement, human beings will be alive "get [ed] to live" in the fullest sense of the word, and that will be perfect (Revelation 20:5). Therefore, during the Day of Judgement, mankind will recover the original perfection (1 Corinthians 15:24-28). Then comes the final test. To do this, Satan will be released and allowed to try to deceive mankind seen (Revelation 20:3, 7-10). People who oppose the Devil see how it meets fully the biblical promise: "The righteous themselves will possess the land, and dwell therein for ever" (Psalm 37:29). Undoubtedly, the Day of Judgement will be a blessing for all faithful people.
